Statement on the Arrest of Over One Hundred People on Ethnic Grounds by Special Forces of the Sudanese Army

The Afro-European Organization for Humanitarian Action and Development strongly condemns and denounces the tragic incident that took place in the area of Al-Shouk in North Kordofan State on June 21. On this date, Special Forces directly affiliated with the Sudanese army and Islamist militias arrested over one hundred unarmed civilians from the Ta’isha tribe. According to reliable sources, these detainees were subjected to torture and inhumane treatment, and it is believed that some of them died as a result of this brutal torture.

In similar incidents, Special Forces and military intelligence have beheaded individuals solely because they belonged to tribes from Kordofan or Darfur. Many civilians have faced unfair trials resulting in death sentences, and a large number of people remain forcibly disappeared. It is noteworthy that the Sudanese army follows a systematic policy of killing prisoners and has not yet announced the presence of any prisoners in its custody.

An eyewitness, who was previously detained in military prisons and subjected to severe torture and was stabbed in the back, preferred to remain anonymous. He reported that a large number of detainees were executed simply because they belonged to certain tribes, while Rapid Support Forces detainees are killed without any interrogation.

These violations have become systematic and escalating, as witnessed in Village 32 in Al-Jazirah State, with incitement of citizens against specific ethnic groups and the spread of hate speech.

Appeals:

 1. International Community and Human Rights Organizations: We call on the international community and human rights organizations to urgently intervene to investigate these gross human rights violations and hold those responsible accountable.

 2. Sudanese Army : We demand that the Sudanese Army adhere to international human rights laws, cease all forms of torture and arbitrary arrests of unarmed civilians, and ensure that those responsible for these crimes are brought to justice.

 3. Sudanese Citizens: We urge citizens to stand together against these repressive policies, reject hate speech, and work towards strengthening national unity and peace throughout Sudan.

These heinous violations pose a serious threat to peace and security in Sudan and require an immediate and decisive response from all concerned parties to ensure the protection of human rights and the promotion of justice and equality in the country.
